Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have sent defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell out on loan to Sky Bet League One side Rochdale until the end of the season, the club have confirmed.
The 26-year old has fallen massively out of favour at Molineux, and hasn’t played a game for the West Midlands club in just under three years, falling behind the likes of Ryan Bennett, Willy Boly and Conor Coady for Nuno Santo’s men.
The central defender endured an impressive loan spell at Bramall Lane in 2016-17, where he was a regular for a Sheffield United side that secured promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.
He was then sent on loan to Milton Keynes Dons last term, but couldn’t save the side from relegation to the fourth tier, despite a string of impressive performances for the club.
He will be looking to turn around Rochdale’s fortunes, with the Lancashire side sitting 18th in the League One table, just three points clear of the relegation zone after three defeats on the bounce.
This is the best move for both parties – Ebanks-Landell is very unlikely to play for Wolves anytime soon, so a move away is good for beneficial game-time.
Rochdale need a lift if they are to keep pushing up the League One table away from the relegation zone, and if he can replicate his form he displayed at Sheffield United, then Keith Hill’s men have a great signing on their hands.
Ebanks-Landell will be hoping that this move puts him in a shop window for a permanent move away.
