Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official Twitter feed has congratulated midfielder, Ruben Neves, after he earned himself another senior cap for Portugal last night.

Neves appeared as a second-half substitute in Portugal’s 3-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, with the Wolves man earning his third international cap at just the age of 20.

The 20-year-old, who cost Wolves over £15m to sign during the summer, was one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad in international action this weekend, as the Sky Bet Championship took a backseat due to the international break.

Neves has featured regularly under Nuno in the Championship this season, with the division’s most expensive player a driving force behind Wolves’ magnificent start to the 2017/18 campaign.

The Portuguese midfielder has featured in all 16 of Wolves’ Championship fixtures so far this season, scoring one goal and helping Nuno’s side to the top of the table heading into November’s international beak.

Nuno’s side will return to league action next weekend when they visit the Madejski Stadium to face Reading, before the Championship takes centre stage for the remainder of 2017.

The Verdict

Neves is a fine talent, and to be playing full international football at the age of just 20, particularly when you are at a Championship club, is some achievement.

Nuno has a number of exceptionally talented players at his disposal at Molineux, and Neves is amongst the best of them.

Whilst Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini continue to receive plenty of praise for their roles, Neves is continuing to excel in central midfield.
