Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to beat Sheffield United to the signing of free agent Ryan Bennett, with the defender set to sign a three-year deal at Molineux, reports the BBC.
Bennett was one of seven players to be released by Norwich City earlier this month, and has held discussions with the Blades, but is set to opt for a move to Wolves ahead of the summer.
The 27-year old has a wealth of experience, and has made 119 appearances for Norwich in five-and-a-half seasons at Carrow Road, with most of those coming in the Premier League.
During the 2016/17 campaign, Bennett made 37 appearances across all competitions, in what was a disappointing season for the Canaries.
Wolves have announced Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head-coach, and Bennett is set to become the club’s first signing of a busy summer transfer window.
After a 15th placed finish in the Championship last season, Wolves are expected to be active over the summer, moulding a squad that can compete for promotion back to the Premier League.
