Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman, Steve Morgan, believes his investment into the club's youth system is paying off.

Morgan spent £50 million on a new academy featuring state of the art facilities at Compton Park.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Dominic Iorfa, Carl Ikeme, Jack Price, and Kortney Hause, are the latest academy graduates to have featured in the Wolves first team so far this season, with Bright Enobakhare and Connor Ronan also being on the fringes of the first team.

Kenny Jackett's men currently lie 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table, just two points above the relegation zone, and five points of the play-offs - they face top of the table Brighton and Hove Albion at Molineux on Saturday, and there is no doubt that a number of the club's academy graduates will feature in the first-team.

Morgan has spoken about the club's youth policy, saying to the Express and Star: "The club has got a deep tradition of bringing players forward and I think under my spell in charge we’ve actually put that into overdrive and invested strongly.

That's not just in the physical academy, but in the depth of the coaches, the quantity and the quality of the coaches, all of which has improved quite dramatically and the investment is quite significant."

Morgan also believes Wolves have the highest number of youth academy graduates of any other side in the league, he continued: "We must have one of the highest percentage of ex-academy players in the first team squad of anybody in the league and I’m very proud to see this investment is now paying off.”

Having a strong, productive youth academy can be a monumental benefit for any Football League club, and can ultimately lead to the club growing and potentially earning more revenue.
