Former Sunderland player Micky Gray has called for Kevin Phillips to take over at the North East club, which has led to x responses from many fans of the club.

The Black Cats slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Burton Albion at the Stadium of Light yesterday.

The result sees Sunderland slip down to 11th in League One and means that Phil Parkinson has now won just twice and lost six times since taking charge of the club.

Following the result, Gray took to Twitter to call for Phillips to replace the 51-year-old.

Parkinson was brought in as a replacement for Jack Ross, who was sacked back in October.

Phillips confirmed at the time that he was interested in taking over from the Scotsman but the North East club decided to go for the more experienced option.
