Jack Clarke is a man in-demand this winter, with Leeds United fielding interest in the talented window from Premier League sides.

Leeds have knocked back an approach from Crystal Palace according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, whilst there’s interest from clubs including Tottenham in Clarke.

According to the YEP's report, Leeds are prepared to stand firm over the 18-year-old, digging their heels in and preventing a sale this month, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side firmly in the mix for promotion in the Championship.

That stance from the club and Andrea Radrizzani should be applauded by the club’s supporters, who have watched a number of talented youngsters depart Elland Road in recent years at the first sight of top-flight interest.

Lewis Cook’s move to AFC Bournemouth was probably the most recent one that hurt supporters badly, but the likes of Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor have moved to the top-flight too, whilst before that trio, Fabian Delph was an academy player quickly on the move. Massimo Cellino and Ken Bates were the men to oversee those sales, only adding to their lack of popularity on the terrace at Elland Road.

Times have changed under Radrizzani, who clearly recognises the talent he has on his hands with Clarke and how important he is going to be to helping Leeds to the Premier League.

The winger has two goals and two assists to his name in 13 league appearances, but you can count on those numbers doubling if he continues to be a regular fixture in the first-team.

Of course, if that’s the case, by the time summer comes his value will be much more and if Leeds fail to win promotion in May, his sale may come in the summer, as interest is sure to intensify.

Whilst Radrizzani and co are making it clear that Clarke isn’t for sale this month, they are business men and will recognise that his sale could cushion any financial blow of missing out on promotion.

We saw the sale of Ronaldo Vieira in the summer, with Radrizzani admitting that he sanctioned that to balance the books at Elland Road. The Italian wants what’s the club to be as successful as possible, but will not go about achieving that recklessly.

However, it’s pointless looking ahead to the summer now, as Leeds have a promotion race to concentrate on.

Clarke is going to be key to that and Leeds taking a firm stance over his future is good to see and a sign that the times have truly changed at Elland Road.
