The striker’s contract is coming to an end after this season finishes, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be offered a new deal at this current moment. Ward needs a new start and he needs to find a club where he can go and become a regular.
He’s featured in just 19 Championship games this season, and has only started six of them. He’s scored five times which isn’t bad considering his lack of game time, and is deserving of a bigger role in another side. He struggles to play up top on his own, and a fresh start may well be needed.
Connolly is yet to make an appearance this season, and at 32-years-old it looks like his career is slowly coming to a halt. He needs a new start at either a new club or must consider retirement as a realistic option.
With age not on his side, and a real lack of match fitness, it looks as though Connolly would struggle massively to find another Championship side who would be interested in securing his services. His experience is a very good attribute, and a player/coaching role at a club isn’t something to be ruled out of the question. Either way, he needs a fresh start.
