‘Wish him the best’ – Many Nottingham Forest fans react as Deadline Day departure confirmed

Blackpool have confirmed the permanent signing of Nottingham Forest defender Jordan Gabriel.

Gabriel has been chased by Blackpool throughout the summer, with the right-back impressing on loan at Bloomfield Road last season.

Gabriel made 35 appearances across all competitions for the Tangerines, providing real competition for Ollie Turton and helping Blackpool win promotion from League One via the play-offs.

The 22-year-old has been Chris Hughton’s preferred option at right-back due to a shortage of options, featuring in four of their opening five league games. He was sent off in the home defeat to Blackburn Rovers, but returned to the side against Derby County at the weekend.

But after agreeing a fee with Blackpool, which Alan Nixon says is in the region of £700,000, Gabriel has now left Forest.

It is understood that Forest have included a sell-on clause in the deal, too, meaning they will benefit financially if Gabriel moves on for a fee in the future.

Forest, meanwhile, are understood to be closing in on the permanent signing of Mohamed Drager from Olympiacos, with the Tunisian international set to be brought in as Gabriel’s replacement.

In the meantime, we take a look at Forest fans’ reactions to Gabriel’s departure…
