‘Wish he was signing for us’ – Plenty of Bolton fans react as club’s former player completes transfer

Shrewsbury Town have completed the permanent signing of winger Josh Vela from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on a two-and-a-half-year deal, the League One side have confirmed.
Vela had only joined the Edinburgh club in the summer transfer window – and made a total of just 14 appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit – following his departure from Bolton Wanderers in the aftermath of their relegation from the Championship at the end of last season.
A graduate of Bolton’s academy, Vela had made a total of 170 appearances in all competitions for the Trotters, scoring 13 goals and helping them win promotion to the Championship from League One during the 2016/17 campaign.
Taking to Twitter as news broke about the latest turn in Vela’s career path, it seemed plenty of Bolton fans were split on that update, with some expressing the desire to see the 26-year-old in a Wanderers shirt again, while others appeared happier to see him head elsewhere.
Here, we take a look at what some of those Bolton supporters had to say.
Wish him luck. Will be playing under a good manager. He did well in Parky's promotion winning midfield but seemingly only Neil Lennon spotted that his best position was at right back.
Returning to Bolton would have been a retrograde step for all parties.— Steven Battersby (@SBBWFC) January 20, 2020
Shame he's not coming back to Wanderers. Rated him, only his last years under defensive minded Parky spoilt whst he offered.

TBH I never quite understood what all the fuss was about him – I do wish him all the best though

Totally Agree! Showed glimpsy of quality but never consistent, cant even cut it in Scottish football which says a lot

One of our most overrated players. Decent in a winning team. Lacking the toughness for a relegation scrap.

Good player, wish he was signing for us. Didn’t expect the transfer window to be this quiet, thought the manager would have had his onions in a row, out of contracts & frees coming in #bwfc
