Sheffield Wednesday have started the season strongly under the management of Jos Luhukay who has guided the side to a point off the play-off places.

Luhukay's side are now unbeaten in three matches, with draws against West Brom and Leeds, whilst they overcame Aston Villa with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Villa Park.

But with the success of the team this year, there are always selection dilemmas for managers and Luhukay faces a tough job to keep all of his squad happy with competition for places very high at Hillsborough.

The likes of Adam Reach, Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri have all been in fine form this season for the Owls and whilst their positions are all but "nailed on" each week, there are several players in the squad that will find their first-team opportunities limited due to the good form of other members of the squad.

Find out who the players that could benefit from a loan move are here...

The former Barnsley striker signed for the Owls in January 2017 and has netted seven times for the club in 19 appearances before a long injury lay-off has ruled him out of action so far this season.

But with the good form shown by Fernando Forestieri and others this season, it is difficult to see how Winnall will break through to the starting XI.

Competition for the striking position at the club is fiercely contested with Lucas Joao and Steven Fletcher also at the club, whilst Gary Hooper is yet to feature in this campaign thanks to injury with him scoring ten times last season.

Boyd featured in 20 matches for Sheffield Wednesday last season, scoring twice but has been restricted to just one start this season, a 2-0 defeat to Wolves in the Carabao Cup in September.

At the age of 33, this could be considered as Boyd's last chance to get a move elsewhere in his quest for regular football and he will be keen to recapture the form that saw him featuring for Burnley on a regular basis.

The 22-year-old featured in 26 of Sheffield Wednesday's matches last season, mainly due to an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Keiren Westwood but the youngster is yet to break through to the first team this season, due to the good form shown by Cameron Dawson who has played in every league game so far this season.

A loan move could really develop Wildsmith's development in the long-term future.
