Swansea City winger Andre Ayew has told Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal that he wants to stay at the Turkish club for at least another year, according to reports from Turkish media outlet Sabah via Sport Witness.

The 29-year old re-signed for the Swans from West Ham United lasts eason for a reported fee of £18million,in a desperate attempt by the club to try and steer them away from the relegation zone in the top-flight.

But after relegation to the Championship, the wide-man quickly fell out of favour under Graham Potter and subsequently penned a season-long loan move to the Turkish side in July. The winger has since caught the eye on loan with the Super Lig, scoring five goals and producing a number of assists for the club in a total of 28 appearances.

And, after being given a new lease of life over in Europe, reports have now emerged claiming that he has told the boss that he wants to remain at Fenerbahce for at least another year.

It remains to be seen whether the Swans would let him leave on a loan deal once again or just opt to sell him permanently, though reports have claimed that the Welsh club will “evaluate” offers for the attacker ahead of the summer.

Swansea currently sit 14th in the Sky Bet Championship table, 10 points off the top six.

The Verdict

This could be a blessing in disguise for Swansea in all honesty.

Ayew was clearly never going to play for Swansea again after their relegation from the Premier League last season, and his head was obviously going to be turned.

Swansea are firmly in the driving seat in this case, and they could demand multi-million pounds for the winger, which could be beneficial for the club.
