Winger open to return to League One play off winners

In a recent interview with the Sheffield based news outlet The Star, Southampton midfielder Lloyd Isgrove has revealed that he would be open to a move back to Barnsley.

The 23 year old winger was one of the standout performers in Barnsley’s second half of the season revival which culminated in a playoff final victory against Millwall in which Isgrove scored the 3rd goal.

With only a single year left on his contract, Isgrove may consider moving from Southampton where he started his career but where his opportunities have been limited having only made a single appearance in four years.

Following Barnsley’s shock promotion to the Championship, a move may be now more enticing for the young winger as he will be joining a club that he is already settled at and Isgrove will also be playing on a regular basis at a much higher level.

I’ll assess my options definitely [about coming back]. If they come in for me and the offer’s right they’ll have to speak to Southampton, but I don’t see why not.”

Although at this moment in time it is hypothetical discussion as a deal between the two sides for Isgrove has not been agreed. It is likely that Paul Heckingbottom will make the return of Isgrove one of his top priorities.

Barnsley fans, how do you feel about the news? Would you like to see Isgrove’s return? Do you think that it is likely to happen? How do you think he would far in the Championship? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
