Fulham have confirmed the departure of youngster Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson.

Thornsteinsson, 20, is an Iceland U-21 international winger who has been at the club since 2015 but has not had a senior appearance Fulham.

Born in Reykjavik, the Icelandic has been on loan at Danish Superliga side Vendsyssel FF where he played 26 times, scoring four goals and assisting four times - though he was unable to prevent them from getting relegated via the play-offs.

The youngster must have done well enough to impress in Denmark, though, with fellow Superliga side AGF Aarhus capturing his signature.

Thorsteinnson will officially leave Fulham on July 1.

Within a statement, Fulham said: "We’d like to wish Jon all the best in the future and thank him for his services at Fulham."

The Verdict

Fulham clearly thought Thorsteinsson wasn't going to cut the mustard at Craven Cottage, and at 20, it might be an appropriate time for him to leave.

Considering he hasn't played for the first team yet it would do neither party any good for him to settle in the U23s, especially after a taste of first-team football.

The winger showed some good potential in Denmark and has done enough to secure a full-time transfer to a well established Danish club, so I think there is potential we may hear his name again, depending on how the next few years go.
