Nottingham Forest face a ransacked Bristol City side in the opening day of this season’s Championship campaign.

With Bristol City losing star players Bobby Reid and Aden Flint this summer, the Tricky Tree’s will be hoping to secure their first three points of the season.

Aitor Karanka has bought a number of new faces to the City Ground during the transfer window to date, notably with the signing of goalkeeper Costil Pantilimon from Premier League side Watford and the acquisition of club record transfer signing Joao Carvalho from Benfica.

These signings show that Karanka and his side are looking to improve on their 17th place finish from last season, and will go into the new campaign as real contenders.

Forest seemingly have their goalkeeper, central midfield and central attacking starting line-up solidified, which means attention now turns to the transfer market to acquire the last few missing pieces of the puzzle.

Here are the two further signings that Nottingham Forest should make ahead of the new season.

Younes Kaboul made just two appearances for Premier League side Watford last season after suffering an injury early in their top flight campaign.

Despite never having played in the Championship before, Kaboul certainly still has what it takes to be a dominant presence in a back line, something that Forest are in need of.

Aitor Karanka is spending big money on players this summer, and with the Frenchman unlikely to get much of a look in a Vicarage Road this season, might not cost too much to bring to the City Ground.

The Bristol City winger had an on and off season hindered with injuries, meaning the 23-year-old only managed to start 13 league games throughout the campaign.

O’Dowda stated the season brightly, but his ankle injury, failed to make an impact back in the first team, which coincided with the Robins disappointing drop away from the play-off places.

The versatile wide man could provide youth to Karanka’s front line, and deliver important passes and crosses to the Forest players.
