Derby County loan forward Will Osula has opened up on his 'amazing' experience with the Rams and has highlighted David McGoldrick as a major influence in his time at Pride Park so far.

The 19-year-old is currently on a season-long deal at Pride Park and enjoying his first real taste of senior football. He's already an international with Denmark at under 19 level, is highly rated by his parent club Sheffield United and is one manager Paul Heckingbottom has high hopes for.

Osula is making use of his opportunity for first-team football and has scored five goals so far this season and has featured in 11 of Derby's 12 games since he arrived in the summer.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Osula opened up on his experience with the Rams and detailed how it's progressing: "It's what I need now, I want it and I am ready for it and I am happy to be playing here. It feels amazing to be playing all the time. I am enjoying it and it's going well."

Osula revealed his closeness to David McGoldrick has been a key factor in his development. Osula played with McGoldrick last season with the Blades and he revealed that McGoldrick has taken him under his wing.

"That's my 'Uncle Didzy', that's what I like to call him.

"I am very close with him and happy to finally play together with him on the pitch and link up with him. It's an amazing feeling to play with him."

Osula has been an important player for Warne as he offers a different type of striker to James Collins and David McGoldrick. He's able to run with the ball at pace and take on chances himself which was showcased in his double against Accrington Stanley earlier this season.

With McGoldrick guiding him, there's no doubting the potential of what Osula can achieve this season for the Rams.

The Verdict

Osula is still raw but has developed brilliantly over the last month. His well-taken goal in the FA Cup against Torquay displays a player who's starting to play on instinct which is exactly what you need in a striker.

Continuing at Derby will help his development as his consistent exposure to first team football will grant him more opportunities.

When you factor in the small squad at Pride Park, there will be no shortage of chances Osula has of playing in the first team. He just has to continue performing well and convincing Paul Warne he can be trusted in the starting XI.
