League One Champions Wigan Athletic romped home to the League One Title last season, but can Will Grigg produce the goods at a higher level?

Wigan had a fantastic season last time out.

Not only did the Latics win the league with 98 points, they had a magnificent run in the FA cup, beating English Champions Manchester City at the DW Stadium, the goal scored by Will Grigg.

Grigg struck 26 goals in all competitions, two less than in his previous outing in League One with Wigan Athletic, where he struck 28 goals in the 2015/16 season, a campaign in which a song about his goal scoring exploits went viral.

There is no doubting he is absolutely prolific in the third tier.

Whilst the Northern Irish striker is often in lethal touch in League One, but the last time he was in the Championship with Wigan Athletic, he failed to impress.

Just five league goals in a season which saw a Latics relegation, Paul Cook must be wondering if he should give the striker another chance to prove himself in the second tier.

After being in such fantastic form this season, it would seem harsh not to give Grigg another chance in the Championship.

Against Manchester City he proved he can do the business against a Premier League quality defence, so there is no reason to doubt he is capable of being a menace to Championship defences.

However, Paul Cook might want to consider bringing in a proven Championship goal scorer to the club, in case the Northern Irishman's second tier woes strike again.
