Lincoln City advanced to the EFL Cup second round last night with a third win of the season, beating Championship side Huddersfield away from home.

The Imps won courtesy of Harry Anderson's 55th-minute goal, keeping a clean sheet in the process. They've yet to concede this season and for long periods of the game, they were indistinguishable as the lower league side.

The win set up a mouthwatering tie against Premier League side Everton, the same opponents the Imps faced in the FA Cup third round last season. On that occasion, they lost 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter but this time around the tie will be played at Sincil Bank.

It's an exciting evening for Lincoln chairman Clive Nates. He is a lifelong Everton fan who chose to invest in Lincoln after a short-lived link up between the two sides. Nates was instrumental in luring Danny and Nicky Cowley to manage the club and is a quiet, reserved character away from the boardroom.

Fans reaction to the draw included joy from Nates, who will travel over from South Africa for the match, as well as fans expressing joy at getting a strong draw in the second round, arguably as good as it could be considering teams in Europe don't enter until round three.
