Football League World's Nottingham Forest fan pundit Grant Brindley will hold judgement on the club's new recruits until he has seen them play.

Defensive midfielder Alfa Semedo and left-back Yuri Ribeiro both arrived on season-long loans from Benfica on Monday and whilst Brindley is optimistic, he is also reserving any excitement for now.

"These are areas we certainly needed to strengthen," the regular punter told Football League World.

"But I'll reserve judgement until I have seen them both play.

"We had Diogo Goncalves on loan from Benfica last season which didn't work out, and Gil Dias from Monaco was loaned to Olympiacos half way though the season."

21-year-old Semedo arrives with Champions League experience under his belt, playing three times for the Portuguese giants in the competition last season before spending the final six months of the campaign with Espanyol.

Ribeiro, 22, is yet to make a name for himself in the first team at the Estadio Da Luz, with a successful loan spell with Rio Ave two seasons ago the pinicle of his career so far.

But he is the one out of the two that Brindley has higher hopes for this season.

"Ribeiro will definitely add some much-needed competition at left back, and should put an end to Ben Osborn having to cover there," he said.

"Semedo looks to have had mixed reviews but he is still young enough to get better. He looks like he will add some physicality which is something we needed in the middle of the park."

The duo take the club's summer recruitment tally to four for the summer, following Sammy Ameobi and Tiago Silva into the side as Sabri Lamouchi looks to put his stamp on the Reds.

And Brindley's attention has not lingered on the duo long, with thoughts quickly turning to where they can improve next.

"Assuming Muric is done, I would still like us to to get Sam Byram back at Right back, another winger, and a striker," he said.

"If we can get real quality in these positions we shouldn't be too far away from challenging for promotion."
