Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has told the club's official website that he feels that Xavier Amaechi will add a lot to his side as the winger closes in on a return to full fitness.

The 20-year-old originally joined the club on loan from German side Hamburg during the summer but is yet to have made a competitive appearance for the Trotters after breaking a bone in his foot during pre season.

However the exciting forward player recently resumed first team training on Monday and could well be involved for the club in the not too distant future.

Although it appears that Bolton have no plans to rush the winger back into action, Evatt was still quick to state how excited he is to have the player back to fitness:

"Hopefully we'll build him up now and get him some game time in the coming few weeks and get him ready to play in the first team.

"He was one of our key signings in the summer and we've not had him yet.

"We haven't been good enough this last month but it will be great to have him back because I think he's a very good player and will add a lot to us."

Amaechi is no stranger to English football, having previously been on the books of both Arsenal and Fulham's academies during the earlier stages of his career.

His current contract with Hamburg expires in the summer of 2023.

The Verdict

This is a signing that certainly caught the eye of many when it was announced during the summer and now it appears that Bolton fans will soon get to see what Amaechi is all about.

He is an exciting attacking player who can operate on either wing and should bring something different to the table to that of the club's other forward options.

Amaechi will be keen to prove that he has what it takes to thrive in a first team environment after biding his time at Hamburg.

It will certainly be intriguing to see what impact the winger has when he returns to full fitness.
