Wilks in: Hull City’s best starting XI from what we’ve seen so far this season – Agreed?

Hull City have largely struggled to adapt to life back in the Sky Bet Championship after securing promotion from League One and currently find themselves in 21st place.

Grant McCann’s side have only picked up two victories in their opening 11 league games and will now be looking to build some much needed momentum after beating Middlesbrough 2-0 on the weekend just gone.

Scoring goals has been the main issue for the Tigers so far, with the East Riding of Yorkshire side having only found the net a measly eight times up to this point.

However the return of Mallik Wilks and constant threat posed by the young Keane Lewis-Potter always gives them hope in games that are tightly contested on a weekly basis in the second tier.

Only a true expert on Hull City will get these 27 Tigers quiz questions correct

What year was the club formed?

With that in mind, here we take a look at the best starting eleven that Hull City could put out based on what we have seen from the team so far.

Matt Ingram is firmly in place as the club’s number one choice between the sticks and that certainly doesn’t seem set to change anytime soon.

Callum Elder and Lewie Coyle continue to be reliable options at full back, with the ever improving duo of Jacob Greaves and Di’Shon Bernard getting the nod at centre back ahead of the likes of Alfie Jones.

In midfield Greg Docherty acts as the box to box option, whilst Richard Smallwood offers a good shield in front of the back four when his side are out of possession.

Summer signing George Moncur is something of an all rounder as a number 10 and is capable of creating overloads out wide as much as he is able to drop into the midfield double pivot in order to create a three man block when required.

The aforementioned duo of Lewis-Potter and Wilks provide a real goal threat out wide that caused havoc in League One and the challenge now will be to transfer that form into the Championship moving forwards.

Meanwhile Josh Magennis would usually get the nod when he is fit and available up top, with the Northern Irishman possessing a wealth of experience at Football League level.
