Howard Wilkinson has talked up the potential at Leeds and for them to re-establish themselves in the Premier League next year and onwards after that.

Wilkinson was speaking to Sky Sports, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, and is of course the last man to have won a top-flight title with the club, back in the early 90s.

He's got plenty of experience and respect amongst Leeds fans, then, and knows how big this return to the Premier League could be, if they can get it right.

He said:

“You are talking about ease of access, there’s an airport at Leeds.

“It’s a massive opportunity and you can only hope that the opportunity is taken by good forward planning and plotting a route that will keep them there and then take them on to better things.”

It's a huge opportunity for Leeds to get themselves back among the biggest clubs in the country and stay there.

The Whites have got one of the biggest fanbases and reputations in the country and if they can use it wisely and build themselves up, we might not see them back in the EFL for some time.

That is obviously the plan, then, and it remains to be seen just how they go about doing it.

With Andrea Radrizzani and his boardroom staff showing themselves to be doing a good job right now, though, fans will be hopeful that a big and bright future is around the corner now they have returned to the Premier League.
