Sheffield United will take on a Swansea side that many are tipping for an immediate return to the Premier League.

With only Paul Coutts absent through injury, Chris Wilder will have an all but full strength squad of players to choose from heading into their opening fixture.

The Blades will be looking to pick up points from the outset of the season, and will be hoping to improve on last season’s results, that saw them finish agonisingly close to the play-off places in tenth place.

Whilst Wilder’s side ended the season in tenth, they were only six points shy of the play-offs, and a chance of a shot at bringing Premier League football back to Bramall Lane.

Graham Potter’s side have no known injury concerns, but did lose star defender Alfie Mawson to Premier League newbies Fulham earlier this week.

Wilder will be looking for his starting 11 to put in a winning performance, but might have to turn to the bench for inspiration if the result isn’t going his way.

Here are two players the Blades should turn to for impact substitutes.

While some may be tipping Ben Woodburn for a spot in the starting lineup, the 18-year-old is likely to feature off the bench for the Blades this weekend.

The forward, who signed on a one-year loan deal from Premier League side Liverpool, has feature 11 times for the Reds first team, scoring on one occasion.

With the opportunity at first team football for Woodburn, and the acquisition of a promising youth talent already with international experience for the Blades, it was a deal that benefits all parties.

Sheffield United signed David McGoldrick after a short trial period at Bramall Lane, during preseason, and could be a great addition to their attacking options.

With Sharp and Clarke likely to start up top for the Blades, the 30-year-old could make a real impact off the bench if Chris Wilder decides to start the forward as a substitute.

Despite his age, McGoldrick, who scored eight goals in all competitions last season, can still influence the game off the bench, and might just be Sheffield United’s hidden gem this season.
