Chris Wilder has revealed that David McGoldrick is fine despite the Sheffield United forward picking up a dead leg against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

McGoldrick, a summer signing at Bramall Lane, has featured in all three of Sheffield United’s fixtures so far this season, with the forward stepping off the bench to score the winning goal on Saturday against QPR.

However, the 30-year-old picked up a dead leg and took a knee into his back on Saturday, but Wilder has played down the severity of those knocks.

Andy Giddings from BBC Sheffield has provided an update from Wilder on McGoldrick, confirming that the former Ipswich Town forward is OK.

Sheffield United take a break from Championship action this week, after playing three games across seven days last week.

Instead, Wilder’s side take on Hull City tomorrow in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

There are expected to be a number of changes made to Wilder’s starting XI on Tuesday evening.

Oliver Norwood, who only joined the club this morning, looks set to make his debut against the Tigers.

The Verdict

This is an encouraging update on McGoldrick.

A dead leg can be a nasty injury, so hearing that the forward is OK will please supporters.

With Wilder set to make changes in the Carabao Cup tomorrow, it seems unlikely that a player like McGoldrick will be risked.
