Sheffield United are enjoying an excellent season under new manager Chris Wilder, sitting in 2nd place as we head into Christmas.

Wilder has got the Blades playing free flowing football, with the club regularly having over 20 shots a game and creating chance after chance against their League One opponents.

A 4-0 win over Swindon Town yesterday further enhanced their promotion credentials, and manager Wilder will be keen to add to his squad in January to ensure their promotion charge does not run out of steam when it matters most.

To do this, Wilder will need his board to back him in the transfer market and give the Blades the players they need to see the season through.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at THREE January deals that Sheffield United must look to secure...

Ethan Ebanks-Landell

It might look an obvious pick to start with, the on loan Wolves defender has fast become somewhat of a cult hero at Bramall Lane this term.

His goals from the back as well as his commanding presence in the middle make him the ideal League One defender.

Wilder must do all he can to get his board to sign Landell on a permanent deal. If he can be snapped up early on in January, morale around the Lane will be extremely high indeed.

Jack Hobbs

Should the Blades fail to sign Ebanks-Landell, then Forest defender Jack Hobbs represents a good option for the Blades to look at.

Out of favour at the City Ground, Hobbs is still a good defender, and at League One level he would no doubt excel.

Hobbs would be an excellent signing regardless though, and the additions of him and Ebanks-Landell would be perfect.

Josh Morris

It might sound a bit odd, but with the financial difference in Scunthorpe and Sheffield United, the Blades could well tempt their rivals' top scorer to make the move to Bramall Lane.

If it could be done, it would be a shrewd move by Wilder. He would be adding a proven League One player who knows where the net is, as well as derailing one of their main rivals' promotion charges.

Morris looks a top quality player, and despite Championship interest, the Blades are still a good move for any player in this league.
