Sheffield United produced one of the performances of the season last Saturday as they tore Aston Villa apart at Bramall Lane, winning the match 4-1.

There were plenty of top performances and brilliant moments, with Oliver Norwood controlling the game, John Fleck at his best and Billy Sharp in clinical form as always.

But not one of these were Chris Wilder's favourite moment from the win, instead, he picked new signing Conor Washington's desire as his favourite part of the match.

"For me, the best bit of the game was when we cleared one down the line and Conor went after it," Wilder told the Sheffield Star.

"He carried on going and kept it in. I absolutely loved that."

Washington only joined the Blades last week after having his contract with Queens Park Rangers cancelled by mutual consent.

He replaced Sharp in the 81st minute and impressed the Blades boss with his desire and hunger to chase every ball down.

The Verdict

It is no surprise that Wilder is a fan of Washington's pace and desire, as I imagine that is one of the main reasons he brought the former Peterborough United and Newport County man in.

Given his track record with strikers it would be no surprise if the manager was able to turn Washington into a goal-machine, having taken people like Leon Clarke and David McGoldrick and given them a new lease of life already.

A few eyebrows were understandably raised when the signing was made, but he could well prove to be a great bit of business yet.
