Wilder issues claim on 27-y/o that Sheffield United fans will absolutely love

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has insisted that interest from Championship sides won’t be a problem in the pursuit to sign Oliver Norwood, according to reports from the Sheffield Star.

The midfielder, who penned a loan-to-buy deal at Bramall Lane in the summer has been magnificent for the Blades this term, as Wilder’s men look to mount an assault on the automatic promotion places.

There have been claims that one of the division’s big-spending sides could look to hijack Norwood’s move before it is processed following the Christmas period, however Wilder has quickly dismissed these rumours.

“It’s done, it’s dusted and everything is sorted,” Wilder said.

“There’s no way anything is happening other than Ollie coming here – in fact, I already think of him as being our player.”

United are set to pay the Seagulls a fee of around £2million when the deal goes through in the new year, as United look to kick on from their current 4th position.

The Verdict

This is a fantastic boost for United, although Norwood’s deal looks permanent there is no stopping other clubs coming in and bidding more for the midfielder.

He’s been magnificent whilst Coutts has been out, and it’s a huge coup.
