Chris Wilder has revealed that Mark Duffy was withdrawn from the Blades game on Tuesday night as he had a virus - not because of concussion which some thought was the cause.

The Blades have struggled to get going this season and lost the EFL Cup clash with Hull City on penalties on Tuesday night.

Duffy had to be withdrawn, too, and Chris Wilder has revealed - via Andy Giddings - that that was due to a virus and he was not the only player to be suffering with it:

Clearly, a virus has spread around the players and it remains to be seen if anyone else gets it in what's been a frustrating time for the Blades so far.

They've one win on the board but it's clear that Chris Wilder wants more players in the loan window and it remains to be seen who he manages to bring in.

The Verdict

You have to give the players credit for trying to play on but Wilder is understandably a little miffed in not apparently knowing.

Number one, communication could be improved but, equally, had he known he could have played fully fit players that may have changed the course of the game.
