Chris Wilder is expecting Sheffield United to make one more loan signing before the weekend.

Last week, the window for permanent transfer closed, but EFL clubs are still able to strengthen their squad through the loan market until the end of August.

Wilder is one Championship manager actively looking to strengthen his squad between now and the end of the month, with the Sheffield United boss telling Andy Giddings from BBC Sheffield that he expects one new face through the door.

It’s expected to be another midfielder that arrives at Bramall Lane, though, with Wilder’s search for striking reinforcements expected to go on until late in the window.

Today, Wilder added Oliver Norwood to his squad, with the midfielder arriving on an initial loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.

That deal is expected to be made permanent, with the midfielder stepping back into the Championship after winning promotion from the second-tier with Fulham last year.

Norwood is likely to make his Sheffield United debut tomorrow, when Wilder’s side go up against Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

The Verdict

This is another exciting update from Wilder, who despite the permanent window shutting, looks desperate to strengthen his playing squad.

Adding more bodies at this stage of the summer is shrewd, with the Championship expected to intensify towards the end of the month.

So far, Sheffield United’s summer business has been good, so there will be excitement to see who Wilder is chasing a deal for.
