Chris Wilder has told Sheffield United’s official media (@SUFC_tweets) that he is expecting a reaction from his players this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship, after the suffered just their fifth defeat of the season against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening.
Jamal Blackman’s error against QPR on Tuesday evening led to a 1-0 defeat for the Blades, who slipped off the top of the Championship table and moved down to third, with both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City leapfrogging Wilder’s side in the standings.
Wilder’s side return to Bramall Lane on Saturday after back-to-back away fixtures, with Hull City the visiting side. The Sheffield United boss has praised his squad for their response to Tuesday’s defeat, insisting there will be a reaction when the Tigers visit South Yorkshire this weekend.
Wilder said: “I’ve got a group of players that take the praise when it comes along, don’t get carried away, and take the bit of criticism that I chucked at them on Tuesday night.
“One thing that I will say is that the players character has been first class. The reaction I’m sure will come 100% on Saturday.”

Blackman, who suffered an injury whilst making his mistake on Tuesday, is back with his parent-club, Chelsea, as they assess they goalkeeper’s injury. Simon Moore, who was introduced as a substitute at Loftus Road, will be expected to deputise against Hull.
Sheffield United were disappointing at QPR on Tuesday, failing to maintain their position at the top of the Championship table.
How the Blades react to that defeat on Saturday will tell us a lot more about Wilder’s squad and their promotion credentials.
Over the course of the season they have continued to surprise many, but now many are expecting the Blades to bounce back against Hull at Bramall Lane – including Wilder.
