Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has confirmed that striker Ched Evans will head out on loan from the club.

The Blades manager was speaking to the Sheffield Star following his side's 5-1 pre-season win over their neighours, and confirmed that a deal until Christmas has been set up for Evans with an as yet unnamed club.

Evans returned to the club at the beginning of last season but struggled with injuries and form for most of the campaign, with a niggling ankle injury curtailing much of his progress on his return to the Blades, with who he had spent three seasons with prior to serving a prison sentence.

The former Manchester City and Norwich man will be hoping to hit some form at his new club, and Blades boss Wilder said it would 'be good for him short term, and the club in the long term' for Evans to get some goals and minutes under his belt.

Evans was not among the squad which made the short journey to Stocksbridge last night, a game which saw Billy Sharp find the back of the net twice for United.

Manager Chris Wilder will be hoping to bring in a replacement or two for Evans, with the Blades only now having Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp as recognised strikers to call on.
