Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has never been past the last sixteen of the FA Cup in his managerial career but has called on his players to break that poor record when they travel to face Premier League outfit Leicester City this weekend.

The Blades make the trip to the King Power Stadium tomorrow night, looking to make the last eight of the competition and Wilder pointed to the club's proud history in the competition, in contrast to his own struggles, and urged his players to change that by causing an upset.

United go into the match on the back of a good result in last weekend's Yorkshire derby against Leeds United, a 2-1 victory secured by a Billy Sharp double.

He told the Yorkshire Post: "Looking back over the last 20 or so years, it is incredible. There was getting to the quarter-finals against Manchester United, through to [Warnock] then it was on to Nigel Clough getting to the semi-final as well.

"It would be great to do something like that. We want to continue. So why they appointed me I don’t know because my record is terrible! It is no use me saying, don’t worry lads, it is Leicester City away.

"This is the fifth round of the FA Cup. There is an opportunity for us and while there is one there, we will have a go at it. We would love to continue in the competition."

The Verdict

Sheffield United have enjoyed a great season so far and a cup run, in keeping with the traditions of the club, would be a fantastic way to top it off.

It will be a big ask away at Leicester because they've got some fantastic players and are secure enough in the Premier League to really make a fist of the FA Cup.
