The Sky Bet Championship continues this weekend and the curtain raiser this time around comes at the DW Stadium as Wigan Athletic host Bristol City.

Both these sides will be pretty happy with their starts to the campaign.

Wigan have adapted seamlessly to the Championship after their promotion from League One. They have been powerful in defence and bold in attack, giving many of the sides they've faced headaches.

Meanwhile, Bristol City have quickly adapted from the losses of Bobby Reid, Joe Bryan and Aden Flint and have enjoyed a typically strong start, lying fifth in the table prior to kick-off.

Time, then, to take a closer look at the stats ahead of the match...

It should be a close game on the face of things.

A point separates the pair in the standings whilst they are evenly matched in our selected stats. The Latics have edged the number of shots they have a game but the Robins' tally is by no means poor.

Indeed, the home side also wins the average tackles a game comparison, surely thanks to their aggressive pressing style under Paul Cook.

The Robins, though, top the standings for average possession and dribbles a game and so, quite possibly, we could see a high-scoring, open game in the north-west tonight.

Indeed, with Andi Weimann, Will Grigg and Nick Powell among those to have multiple strikes so far this season, there are goals all over the pitch and so this could well come down to who keeps things tight at the back.
