Wigan Athletic could be set to use midfielder Jack Byrne as bait as they look to tie up a move for Hearts winger Jamie Walker.
According to a report in the Sun on Sunday (Print, 31st December 2017), the impressive Byrne – who has been in fine form during a loan spell with Oldham this term – could be set to offloaded by the Latics as they look to add a sweetener to any potential deal for Walker.
Hearts are already interested in Byrne, and this could be good news for the League One leaders as they look to seal a move for Walker.
Walker only has two goals this season in Scotland, but it is thought his overall performances have been impressive enough to show the onlooking Wigan scouts that there could be a top player in there, and he would no doubt jump at the chance to move down to what is looking like is going to be a Championship club next term.
