What a debut it was for young Manchester United starlet Josh Harrop.

A goal at Old Trafford on the final day of the season capped off a strong display from the young forward, and the 21-year-old will hope for similar opportunities next year.

With United reportedly interested in a plethora of top European names, chances in Manchester may be limited next season, and a season on loan may give Harrop the experience required to challenge for a place in the United squad in the coming years.

Recently relegated Wigan Athletic have a huge rebuilding job on their hands if they are to bounce back to the second tier from League One, and the acquisition of young Harrop would be an excellent start to their summer transfer plans.

United and Wigan have done business in the past with young stars, with Nick Powell spending time at the DW Stadium on loan before joining on a permanent deal last summer.

Harrop could be the latest player to hone his skills with the Lancashire club, and would really find his feet in the third tier.

Having proven his ability to find the back of the net in the youth teams at Old Trafford, Harrop has the potential to take his eye for goals to League One, and Wigan should strongly consider contacting United about the player’s availability.
