Maloney has reportedly joined Leicester City

The Scottish attacking midfielder has been linked with a lot of moves away from the DW Stadium since the start of this current year. A number of them being with Premier League clubs including Everton, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

Goal claims that the deal has been completed with a fee of around £1 million being paid to Malky Mackay's Wigan Athletic.

Maloney started his professional career at Celtic making his debut for them on the 29th April 2001. After that he went onto make 69 appearances for them scoring 37 times.

The Scottish winger then had a short spell at Aston Villa in 2007 where he only made 18 appearances scoring seven times in that period.

Next he made a big return to Celtic where he stayed there for another three seasons playing another 44 times for The Bhoys. His final big step was moving to Wigan Athletic. He played a grand total of 70 games for The latics hitting the back of the net 15 times.

Wigan haven't had the best of starts to the season seeing them sitting in 23rd place in the Sky Bet Championship having accumulated just 20 points from 25 games.

Their next fixture will be against play-off battlers Blackburn Rovers who are currently sitting in 10th place.

Newly promoted Leicester on the other hand are currently sitting in 20th place in the Premier League.

The Foxes have got a few injuries and suspensions under their belts and are going to be looking for new reinforcements during the January period.

Fans could see Maloney making his debut for the club sooner than thought due to the injury matters that Nigel Pearson has on his mind.

They play Stoke this coming Saturday at the King Power Stadium who are currently sitting 11th in the Barclays Premier League.
