Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson wants to complete a rumoured move to AC Milan, a report from CalcioMercato has claimed.

It was reported last week that Milan were taking an interest in Robinson as they target a replacement for Ricardo Rodriguez following his move to Fenerbahce, and it seems that interest has caught the attention of the Wigan man.

According to the latest reports, Robinson has already expressed a willingness to make the move to Italy, but that Milan have put any move for the American international on hold for the time being.

Robinson only made a permanent move to Wigan from Everton during the most recent summer transfer window, having spent the last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

In total, the 22-year-old has made 55 appearances in all competitions for the Latics, who currently find themselves 23rd in the Championship standings, with just one win in their last 16 league games.

Milan meanwhile, are eighth in Serie A following their eventful 3-2 win over Udinese on Sunday.

Robinson signed a three-year contract with Wigan in the summer, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Verdict

This ought to be a big concern for Wigan.

Robinson has been one of the bright sparks in what has otherwise been a hugely difficult campaign for the Latics, so they will not want to lose him, although you feel it would be hard for them to turn down an approach from a club the size of Milan.

Indeed, given the struggles Wigan have endured this season, and the potential destination and opportunities this move could offer him, you can certainly understand why Robinson himself would be keen on a move to Milan.
