Wigan are said to be making a late move for Everton midfielder Beni Baningime over a potential loan deal, according to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon.

Nixon broke the news on his Twitter and it could prove to be a good move for both parties involved, with Wigan needing more depth in midfield areas.

The midfielder made 11 appearances in total for the Toffees last season and is likely to be frustrated by his lack of first-team action in this year's campaign.

At the age of 20, Baningime has a bright future still ahead of him, and he could certainly benefit from getting regular game time under his belt.

Wigan will be hoping that he can play a starring role for their side as they look to retain their Championship status with relegation a possibility this season.

But the Latics will have to act swiftly to strike a deal for the midfielder, with the transfer window closing in the coming hours.

The Verdict

This is certainly a smart bit of business by Wigan.

He needs regular game time and he's never going to get that at Everton this season.

A move to Wigan is the perfect destination for Baningime as he could develop as a player and be a crucial player for their side in this year's league campaign.
