Wigan Athletic are showing interest in Aston Villa winger Aleksandar Tonev, according to the Daily Star Sunday.
The 24 year old who signed from Polish side Lech Poznan last summer but failed to make a lasting impression on Villa manager Paul Lambert.
The Bulgarian international was left out of the tour to America and is to be searching for a new club and he isn’t in the Premier League side’s plans.
Wigan head coach Uwe Rosler believes Tonev can be a major factor in helping the Lactics gain promotion but knows that they face competition from French club Montpellier and also a number of German clubs are rumoured to be chasing the former CSKA Sofia.
Tonev made 2o appearances for Villa in a forgettable season for the West-Midland side. Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Manchester City reject Scott Sinclair are on Paul Lambert’s radar as he reshuffles his squad.
