League One Wigan Athletic could make a move for Preston striker Eoin Doyle, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

29-year-old Doyle made his name with Chesterfield, where he smashed in the goals for the Spireites, form which earned him a move to Cardiff City back in 2015.

However, his career in the Championship has stagnated somewhat since that move, and he has failed to his the net consistently for the Bluebirds, and subsequently for Preston. A loan spell at Portsmouth last season once again failed to yield the expected goals, and Doyle could well find himself on the move again now.

Wigan are in the market for new players after succumbing to relegation back to League One last season, and Doyle would appear to fit the mould of the sort of striker they want to lead the line.

However, signing Doyle could come at a price, with Nixon reporting that the club could choose to sell Omar Bogle to raise the funds needed to bring Doyle in.

Wigan fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Would you sell Bogle? Let us know!
