Wigan Athletic are making a decent fist of life in the Championship after their superb season in League One.

Whilst relegation was a huge blow, the Latics have used their resulting promotion to establish themselves in the middle of the pack in the second tier.

They may be 16th but they are just six points outside the play-off spots and five clear of the bottom three.

Such is the tightly-contested nature of this season's competition, a couple of wins could see them move up the table quickly.

Paul Cook's side took League One by storm and, in the main, he managed to hold on to his best players this summer.

That might not be the case come January, especially not if Premier League-chasing clubs come in for their stars and Wigan are not in touching distance of the top.

Who are the big assets at the DW Stadium? Which players are likely to attract attention and give Paul Cook a new year headache?

FLW looks at the three most valuable assets at Wigan right now.

No doubt their biggest asset is Nick Powell, the former Manchester United teenage sensation.

He's been rebuilding his career in Wigan blue and is certainly the one man likely to attract bids worth double-digit millions this winter.

He would be a big loss for them, with four goals and four assists he is their danger man.

26-year-old Dunkley has emerged as a key player for the Latics this season, coming from an unspectacular background with Oxford and Kidderminster.

He's been a behemoth at the back for them, snapping up headers and winning plenty of tackles too.

Clubs such as Aston Villa, desperate for a good quality central defender, must be looking at the 6ft 2in player.

Two of their best performers have been on loan players, Reece James and Lee Evans, but one of their own who is also impressing is Michael Jacobs.

The former Wolves man has racked up almost 120 outings for the Latics and this season alone has two goals from nine matches.

He's been out injured for most of October and Wigan will be desperate to get him back into the fold.
