Wigan Athletic forward Kaiyne Woolery is being pursued by two clubs in League Two, according to a reliable journalist.

According to Alan Nixon, Swindon Town have entered the race to sign Forest Green Rovers target Kaiyne Woolery.

Swindon have reportedly come in with a late cash offer for Woolery as they try to hi-jack Forest Green's move for the young attacker.

Alan Nixon has previously reported that Forest Green Rovers lodged a "sizeable" bid for Kaiyne Woolery which was more than Wigan Athletic paid Bolton Wanderers for his services last summer.

The 22-year-old played just three minutes of football for Wigan last season before heading out on loan to Forest Green Rovers in January.

The versatile forward, who can operate as a winger, attacking midfielder or a striker, impressed during his loan spell with Forest Green, helping them win promotion to the Football League for the first time in the club's history.

Woolery made the decisive contribution in the play-off final against Tranmere Rovers, grabbing two goals in a 3-1 victory at Wembley to ensure promotion from non-league.

Forest Green Rovers are now desperate to re-sign the former Maidstone United and Tamworth man on a permanent deal but they face late competition from Swindon Town.

Forest Green are yet to agree wages with Kaiyne Woolery so Swindon Town could try to make a late swoop.

The Verdict

Kaiyne Woolery has the potential to become a very useful player at League One or League Two level but I'm not sure where he fits in at Wigan.

The 22-year-old is still young and needs the game time so Wigan should either be sending him out on loan or selling him.

Woolery failed to make the bench for their opening day victory against Milton Keynes and with plenty of other viable options in attack, he has become surplus to requirements at the DW Stadium.

Wigan fans - what would you do with Woolery? Keep, loan or sell?
