According to an exclusive report by TEAMtalk, a trio of Premier League sides have made inquiries about Wigan Athletic attacker Nick Powell.

Nick Powell's impressive season at Wigan has not gone unnoticed and now Premier League teams are looking to give the former Manchester United man another chance.

Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace are the three sides who have contacted Wigan over the attacking midfielder with the Latics likely to accept a bid in the region of £1.5m.

Paul Cook has even moved to snap up Sunderland striker James Vaughan as he plans for life without Powell.

The 23-year-old has struck eleven goals in League One this season, and added a further two assists, ranking him as one of the top goal scorers in the division.

Southampton, West Brom and Crystal Palace now could take a punt on Powell, who is rebuilding his career after four difficult years at Old Trafford.

Aston Villa have previously been linked with Powell as Bruce eyed a reunion with the player he once signed on loan whilst at Hull City.

However, that report suggested Powell was more likely to sign a new contract than join Villa.

But with Premier League interest mounting, perhaps the former Crewe Alexandra star is about to move on.

The Verdict

Nick Powell's move to Manchester United came too soon in his career but there is no doubting that he is a terrific talent. But would a move back to the Premier League be the right next step for Powell? He is certainly good enough to work his way back up there but perhaps he should try a season in the Championship beforehand.
