Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of 27-year old Scott Carson from Turkish side Bursaspor for an undisclosed fee.
The ex-England international returns to English football after a two year spell in Turkey. Carson will have to compete with Ali Al-Habsi and Mike Pollitt for the number one jersey at the club, having penned a three year deal at the DW stadium.
He is Wigan manager Owen Coyle’s fifth summer signing, joining Chris McCann, Stephen Crainey, Thomas Rogne and James Perch at the DW Stadium.
Scott Carson spoke to the club website: “Coming into a squad with a new look to it is exciting,”
“There are plenty of players coming in at the moment, but there are also a number of guys here who have been at the club for a long time. I’m sure they’ll help lads like myself settle in, and right now I can’t wait to start getting involved.
“Everyone talks about how tough the league is and they’re right. You have to be at your best if you’re going to come out on top and, with a lot of games to play, it’s going to be really demanding on us this year.”
