Wigan Athletic loanee Alex Revell has issued a warning to the Leeds United squad, stating that Steve Evans will not tolerate them if they are not willing to work hard enough.

Revell, who worked under the Scot at Rotherham United before completing his move to former Premier League club Cardiff City, has issued a stark warning to the Elland Road outfit's players.

Revell is understood to be an advocate of the 53-year-old boss who gained promotion with Rotherham to the Sky Bet Championship, and also managed to keep the Millers in the division in his first Championship campaign, despite arguably having one of the lowest quality squads in the league.

However, the target-man striker admitted that there will be some players who will not enjoy working under Evans, he told Wigan Today: “Under Steve Evans [at Rotherham], there was a fear factor;” “You knew you had to work hard or you wouldn’t be at the club any more.’’

“Not just you wouldn’t be in the team – you wouldn’t be at the club any more. Listen, he is what he is. He’s a character, but no-one can argue with his CV.’’

“Sometimes he’d go off his rocker a bit, but it’s worked. He’s a different type of manager to what some people would like. But if I was an owner and I wanted to get results, his CV speaks for itself.”

Revell had a great time at Rotherham when Evans was in charge and thrived under his leadership, so it has come as no surprise that the forward speaks so highly of his former boss.

Evans for now at least, has made a positive impression at Leeds so far, where he has steadied the sinking ship and guided the club up the Championship table since taking charge last month.

Evans has lost just one of his first five matches as the Leeds boss and the team are believed to be much improved on and off the field, despite this however, there have been reports linking former Manchester United manager David Moyes to the club if Massimo Cellino is able to sell his majority share in the club.

Leeds take on Evans’ and Revell’s old team, Rotherham, in their next Championship fixture, and a win in that contest could take them up into the top-half of the Championship table which would signify that Evans has got the dressing room behind him, and are willing to work hard for the cause.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Is this the type of manager you need to progress? Are you happy with Evans? Or would you prefer a big name like Moyes? Let us know in the comments below!
