Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy is in talks with Wigan Athletic over a potential loan move to the DW Stadium, according to the Sun.
The 32-year old has plenty of experience in the Football League with Leicester and Charlton as well as Palace, and he isn’t currently in the first-team plans of manager Alan Pardew and the club are allowing him to leave on loan.
He spent time out on loan at Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers last season but was unable to find himself a new club during the transfer window.
Gary Caldwell’s side are looking to bounce back into the Sky Bet Championship at the first time of asking and he has made a number of signings this summer, but clearly feels that he is still a defender short.
The Latics are currently ninth in League One with 10 points from their opening six games, and they’ll surely hope to have McCarthy on board before they travel to Port Vale this weekend.
