Wigan Athletic are hoping to bring Yanic Wildschut and Callum McManaman back to the club this summer, according to a respected football journalist.
According to Alan Nixon, Wigan are hoping to sign both of their former stars on loan deals.
Both players are on hefty contracts but with things not going as smoothly as they would have hoped at their new clubs, they are being considered by the Latics.
Paul Cook is aiming to strengthen his options during the close season to ensure that Wigan do not suffer the same fate they did when they last won promotion to the Championship.
After sealing the League One title, Wigan are hoping to bring Wildschut and McManaman back to add some depth to their attack.
Wildschut, 26, left to join Norwich in January 2017 but he has played just 25 games during his time at Carrow Road.
Following an unsuccessful loan spell at promoted Cardiff City, the Dutch winger could return to Wigan, where he scored 14 times in 50 games.
McManaman is another winger who Wigan hope to seal a return for.
The 27-year-old left in 2015 to join West Brom but signed for Sunderland last summer after failing to impress at the Hawthorns.
The Verdict
Both of these signings would be decent acquisitions for Wigan on loan deals and the fans know what they would be getting.
McManaman is likely to be on quite a hefty wage but following the Black Cats' relegation to League One, the former England under-20 international might fancy a return to Wigan, where he enjoyed the best spell of his career to date.
Meanwhile, Wildschut needs to leave Norwich for the sake of his own career but no one is likely to pay a major transfer fee for his services after his spell with the Canaries.
