Wigan Athletic close to sealing deal for Brentford striker

League One side Wigan Athletic are close to striking a deal with Brentford for ex-Walsall striker Will Grigg, according to Vital Wigan.

Grigg could be close to joining Wigan Athletic

The 24-year-old signed for the Bees from the Saddlers in 2013 following a year in League One where he hit 20 goals, but only managed five at Griffin Park whilst they were in the third tier.

He joined MK Dons on loan for the season during the 2014/15 campaign and was a hit at Stadium:mk as he managed 20 league goals.

His goalscoring prowess for the Dons has seen Brentford become keen on keeping him around this coming season to see if he can continue in the same vein in the Championship, but there is plenty of interest surrounding him.

Dons boss Karl Robinson are still keen on thrashing out a deal for his signature, as he proved vital during their promotion campaign last year- but a deal may be out of their range.

Wigan saw a £700,000 offer turned down by the club this week, but are still in negotiations as they prepare a squad ready to take League One by storm.
