Relegated Championship side Wigan Athletic are chasing the signing of Bolton Wanderers keeper Andy Lonergan, according to Burden Aces.

Bolton will be in a mad dash the sign up one of their two keepers, with both Lonergan and Adam Bogdan out of contract this summer.

There’s interest in both of their players, Wigan now chasing the ex-Leeds United goalkeeper and Liverpool hunting Bogdan.

A move for the 31-year-old would be a confusing one, with the Latics holding plenty of depth when it comes to goalkeepers. They have Scott Carson, Ali Al Habsi and Lee Nicholls who can all go between the sticks.

Wigan boss Gary Caldwell will be hoping to rebuild his squad this summer in order to put up a fight for promotion next season.

The club were relegated last Tuesday when Rotherham’s win over Reading sealed their fate.

Wigan ended up finishing in 23rd place and amassed 39 points during the Sky Bet Championship season.
