Wigan and Blackburn to battle for signature of international winger

Published

Championship duo Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers are set to do battle over exciting Falkirk wide-man Fraser Aird, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old winger, who plays predominantly as a wing back for the Scottish club, has delivered a host of impressive performances this season North of the border.

The Canadian international signed a short-term deal with the club in January, but is set to be out of contract this summer, and both Wigan and Blackburn could be set to join Cardiff City in the race for his signature.

Aird has made nine appearances in the league for Falkirk since signing from Vancouver, who he had joined on a loan deal from Glasgow giants Rangers.

A free transfer for Falkirk, the club will no doubt be disappointed to be losing one of their better performers, but they will know full well there is not a lot they can do to stave off the challenge of clubs in the second tier of English football.

Rovers and Latics fans, what do you think? How much do you know about Aird? Would he be a good signing? Let us know!
