Charlton chairman Matt Southall has sent an email to Charlton Athletic's staff in a bid to reassure them following Tahnoon Nimer's decision to pull out from his backing of the club.

Nimer took to social media last night to suggest he would no longer be providing financial backing for the club, and Charlton then released a statement on Tuesday morning which confirmed they had accepted his resignation from the board of directors.

Charlton also released an earlier statement on behalf of Southall which stated that Nimer had failed to provide "a single penny of the promised funds", with the club chairman condemning Nimer's actions since the completion of the takeover.

Southall has sought to reassure the club's staff by sending an email aiming to soften the impact of recent events, while his latest statement also noted that senior management will continue running the club with its best long-term interests at heart.
